An important thing to understand here, is what a red light camera is in the first place and what does it do.
We all know and understand the needs that exist to reduce drivers who are driving recklessly on roads across the world, placing many lives including their own at risks. Wreck less in this case is closely associated to the terms over speeding, breaking traffic rules of the road and even driving under the influence of alcohol or any other substance that deters ones reflexes. The red lights are therefore used at the traffic lights across highways, to catch any of the said wreck less drivers.
There are some rectangular loops placed underneath the asphalt at the stop line of the roads. As a huge metal object such as a car passes over, it affects the magnetic field which immediately triggers the electrical current. This in turn will result in the well placed red light camera flashing and taking a photo of the car that had crossed over.
When the light of the traffic is red, there is a fast snap shot picture which is taken of the driver or the vehicle that would ideally be caught breaking a law. The photo happens in an instance of seconds and will always at least catch the driver, the vehicle or the number plate which will allow authorities to ethically search for the owner. Sometimes the cameras are very small and can barely be seen by the average eye, making it all the more meaningful to the traffic police. The camera can be placed inside the traffic lights itself, above it, below it, at the end of the street, in nearby bushes, on a close by building and many other specific points.
