Mac operating systems has a zoom feature that is mostly used in presentations when there is a large audience and this feature helps to make the presentations more understanding and more visible . This is also used in making the text larger so that the visually impaired people can read them easily.

Every new version of Mac has full-featured screen -access technology which is of immense help for people who are blind or who have low vision as it helps them to have a good control over their computer. Zoom is a built-in, full –screen magnifier that has the capacity to magnify the items to 40 times its original size. There are a number of ways you can activate it for example, using keyboard comments, a track pad gesture, and a button on the screen, or through the scroll ball on the mouse.

The most common method to use the zoom feature is by clicking on the system preferences button. A list would be displayed and in that on the upper left hand corner an Apple icon would be visible and the user should click on the icon. A pull down list in the form of a menu gets displayed on the screen and from that displayed menu select preferences. There is also another option as to select preferences straight from the dock.

Inside the preferences folder you can locate an icon ‘Universal Access’. This icon is usually found on the right side of the screen and it is a circular icon in blue and white color. The ‘Universal Access’ icon can be easily identified as it has an image of a person in it. In this section you can find a button which has the following words written on it, "When using the computer I have difficulties with". Once the button option is clicked a new list gets displayed. From that list, click the option "Seeing". It is essentially the first option in the list. And finally click on the "Turn on Zoom" and the user can start using the zoom feature on the Mac machine.

Since this process is quite lengthy, people use additional software to zoom in on Mac. The advanced third party software combines all the above steps in to a single step and helps to make the zooming process a much quicker and easier task. There are software or patches that combine all the lengthy steps of zooming in to Mac, into one single hot key which can be linked easily to the mouse.
