Public relations or popularly know as PR is the management of public image of businesses and non-profit organizations. It is highly required for an organization for the purpose of building rapport with customers, investors, voters, general public and also organization employees. Various types of public relation disciplines include internal communications, labor relations, media relations, analyst relations, industry relations, crisis public relations, financial public relations, government relations and investor communications.

Today, it is very essential to have a public relations officer as they help to maintain and enhance an organization’s image. A public relations officer works in various domains such as entertainment companies, corporations, industries, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and also the government. Spin is where a particular event is portrayed in a highly biased manner so that it is highlighted as the most optimal way of handling a particular situation. It is not uncommon for facts to be creatively represented for the purpose of enhancing public image however this must not result in the use of deceptive or manipulative tactics by which the purpose of maintaining public relations is thwarted.

Public relations is a very important facet of an organization’s interaction with society and various social elements. Without effective public relations, business image will suffer and an organization will not be able to project the kind of image that is seeks to show to target audience.
